Drop Everything And Read!

It has arrived!!
((cue music: The Little Mermaid -- Ariel: "aaahhh-ah-aaahhh"))

A few weeks ago, I ordered Hal Higdon's Marathon Ultimate Training Guide via Runner's World.  Since Kelly and I chose his Marathon Training Program, when I saw this book it seemed like a good informational read to pick.  I figure the more I hype up this training, come June 25th, I'll be chomping at the bit to start.

Remember in school when you had D.E.A.R. days where your whole class went to the library and read a book for a certain amount of time?  I think this should be insituted in the workplace, nothing crazy, just one day a week where everyone has to read a BOOK, not an online article, for 30 minutes during the day.  I'm pretty sure everyone's brains would appreciate it #justsaying.

When I was little and would take trips with my mom to Barnes and Noble, anytime I purchased a book (ok, anytime my mom bought me a book) I'd insist it be gift wrapped there in the store.  Yes, I know, the book was for me and I was there when it was bought, but come on -- who doesnt love tearing through that shiny goodness, even if you know what lies beneath?!  I loved those little square stickers that they put in the center of the wrapping, too... <<sigh>>

Sample of gift wrapped items

I guess these antics have not escaped me in my 24 years, because even now, whenever I open a gift or a package my body has a striking resemblance to this:

Anywho...I'll be starting the marathon book this weekend, and hope that my body resembles that jacked woman in the center of the cover photo by race day...thats normal, right?!

Happy Friday!

Get up, Stand up!

Somehow, I always end up watching the Biggest Loser, while sitting on my couch and scarfing down my dinner....Tonight was no different, except add a RIVER of tears!  I don't even watch the show religiously, but this week was the makeover week - and to show off their makeovers, the contestants got to meet Michelle Obama at the White House!  If that wasn't enough, each contestant's FAMILY showed up as yet another surprise ---> cue the waterworks.  I swear, if you were watching and didnt shed a tear, you're, well, not human.

I digress.

This is not a post about TV reviews.  TOMORROW is the registration for the Marine Corps Marathon 10K!!!  Registration opens at 12 noon, click here to sign up! The 10K is only 6.2 miles (why isn't THIS what I signed up for??).  It starts on the National Mall, crosses the Potomac, into Crystal City, VA, and finishes at the Marine Corps War Memorial outside of Arlington National Cemetery!  This is a great way to get involved without a total body meltdown :)

I really can't wait to start training for this race.  Kelly and I were sharing our excitement today!  To get myself pumped and ready to run, I've been compiling a list of songs for my marathon playlist (uhm, 5 hour playlist?!?  For those of you who know me this part of my training will NOT be a problem for THIS kid!). With the help of some true rockstars (aka my best friends), here is what I have so far from current hits on the radio:

1) The Wanted "Glad you Came"
2) Olly Murs "Dance With Me Tonight"
3) Demi Lovato "Give Your Heart a Break"
4) Havana Brown ft. Pitbull "We Run the Night"
5) Honorebel & Sean Kingston "My Girl"
6) Karmin "Brokenhearted"
7) Jay Sean "Like This Like That"
8) Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe"

Also, check out this AWESOME remix of Call Me Maybe (major props to my favorite of the Banana's in Pajamas).

So, moral of the post...GET UP OFF THE COUCH, wipe the tears from Biggest Loser away, and GO REGISTER TOMORROW FOR THE MCM 10K!!
